March NARC meeting

I will bring the ceramic clay so we can make some reef plugs/discs or whatever you want. I can curve off some chunks of clay for whoever wants to do this. I believe Will and Shannon has a bath room scale to weigh 1 or 2 lbs blocks. The clay will last indefinitely as long as you keep it airtight.

Tomoko

if anyone at the meeting wants to send me some starter chaeto for my brand new refugium they can pm me. I will name the refuge after the giver.

Will saved me from having to skip my boards on Saturday--he drilled two beautifully clean and round holes in the back of my tank tonight.

Painting this weekend if i'm lucky...now we're only SIX months behind schedule...so close, so close...

Lindsay and I plan on being there. Will anyone have some frags to trade? I have a green polyp toadstool frag and a tan w/purple polyp monti. cap. frag if anyone wants to trade.

David

Dave,
Would you be interested in an orange cap frag or an orange monti digi frag in trade for the purple polyp cap?
Mariner

Done deal for the orange cap frag. The frag is kind of small though I will try to get about a quarter size frag on Friday when I get home from work. If thats good for you.

Dave

Claudia and I are coming.Let me know if there is anything we can bring.Oh and I have a little cheato and some kenya tree frags if anybody needs/wants them.

Nice meeting! So great seeing everyone. Thanks Tomoko for bringing the "PlayClay"! My kids loved it. (Also gotta have the Ziti recipe - my kids loved that too!) 8Ball your set up is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! I see what all the fuss is about now. SO AWESOME! The remote control hood is too much! Shannon - thank you so much for putting up with all of us, I know you were probably worn out.

Hey all, it was a really nice meeting. Thanks to 8Ball and Shannon for hosting. I know they can't wait for their new frag to arrive.
As usual, the food and company were great! Will's set-up is just an education on the ideal way to do things. The automation of the kalk stirrers and calcium reactor really intrigued me... that's what I want to do if I ever get enough money, time, talent.... :p
The frag I got from David is a beautiful purple in my tank. Very cool
And Kwaj, thanks for the coral food. I'd given some thought to trying to make some according to Borneman's recipe a couple of years ago. It just goes to show that sometimes procrastination really pays off and someone else does your work for you!
TJSwan, sorry you couldn't make it. I brought some Xenia for you, but wound up letting Beaslbob have it.
Mariner

Thanx to 8Ball and Shannon for having all of us. Your tanks and equipment room are awesome! I liked the baby seahorses too. Now that I know what they look like I realize I have some in a bucket of water outside by the grill that I soak wood chips in. I don't know how they got there though.

It was good to see everybody again and meet some new people. Thanx to Kwaj for the "reef food" and Buzz for the chaeto.

I guess the next order of business is the arrival of Caine. You've really got everything ready for him.

thanx again from Mary Ruth and I.

Thank you very much, 8Ball and Shannon, for hosting the meeting. It was a nice meeting/baby shower :celeb3: I hope we did not get Shannon worn out.

I missed the automation of the kalk stirrer :(
I saw his DIY UPS (the one with a marine battery and a DC to AC inverter), though. That's a great help in the event of a power failure.

Thank you, Lori, for the coral food. I am going to wake up my corals and feed them! Like Mariner, I have been lazy about gathering all the ingredients and make the real stuff. You really got the stuff pulverized really well :eek1:

The reef plugs are drying in my garage. My daughter and I added a bunch more to the batch last night. I will be taking them to Pottery By You (the shop in Madison that will fire the plugs for us) soon. I will let you know when they are ready to be picked up. I remember Kwajrocks, Beaslbob, Chris, 8Ball, Mariner and me making the plugs together. Did I miss someone?

A couple of people got the clay to make them later. The clay will keep indefinitely if you keep the clay airtight. You can mist the clay if it get it a bit dry accidentally. Please let me know when you might have your plugs ready for firing.
