marco rocks

Ok just some quick questions about marco rocks.

!) What is it exactly? Is it real rock just dried out or is it DIY rock?

2) If I want to use almost all marco rock for a 120, from what I have read in other threads about 100 pounds of dry marco rocks equals about 150-200 pounds of "normal/wet" live rock. So I could order about 115 pounds and it will be enough for my tank right?

Thanks for the help guys.

Also, does the advertised price include shipping? If not, I live in Oregon, any idea how much shipping would cost, even a ballpark figure would be good. Thanks.

I got 50 lbs for my 72 and I have a couple of the rocks in my stand because it took up so much room. Just go to his website and you will get all the answers. I am very happy with what I have. Its real and its great. Incredibly pourous. I highly advise it.

I think 115lbs might be too much. Here is my 120 with 50lbs of marco fiji and 25 lbs of marco tonga.

And here is a shot with an additional 30 lbs of live rock.

I have rearranged it a few times since that picture. It seems just about the right lbs to me.

I got some MarcoRocks and they are "real" rock, just not harvested from a living reef. They are super light and I am very impressed with them. Just add a piece of LR along with your MarcoRocks to get some life in your tank and I think you will be very happy.

Incredible how much you get from so little weight. Thanks for the answers guys. Any clue on the shipping? Thanks again.

I got 50lbs of the marco rocks also. Like the rock alot. He is also a really great guy to talk to. Give him a call and let him know what you are looking for. He was very helpful to me and I will most likely be buying more. Looking at the tonga shelf rock.

just to weigh in, got 50# shipped a couple of weeks ago and very happy with the quality. I believe on the website you can put in a zip code and get an actual quote on the shipping cost. Overall a good deal.

call him up. The more you buy the cheaper the shipping.... it's about 30 to ship 50# to colorado. We are doing a group buy, and right now I have orders for about 350#.

Thats it i am ordering some soon. I didn't think about the water weight when you buy it from the LFS.

I ordered 50#'s for my 120... I made 2 large columns, added some to the sump, and fuge... There was alot more then I thought there was... I just added 60lbs of LR last nite.. perfect amount, although It would've been plenty with a standard 45#lb box of LR.... I got extra in my sump.....

As for what kind of rock it is... It looks EXACTLY like some dried out 'Premium Fiji Pukani' LR that I have..... Without all the pretty colors...

It's worth it, I originally thought it was expensive for 'dead' rock.. but... now that I see the shapes and the lightweight of it... it's worth it
