Marine Betta

Really? I've never seen a marine betta act aggressive in a tank that size. Was there enough LR for it to hide in? Maybe it's just a rare exception to the rule that these creatures are pretty peaceful because even mine just chases my angels off when they bother it.

When he says "aggressive in there" I assume he means that the current inhabitants are aggressive, not that a betta would be.

yes, the other tankmates were more aggressive, and there is a lot of water movement as well...the betta was too nice for the tank! lol...btw, I'm a she...with red hair...like Wilma...lol

I stand corrected, my apologies.

I'm thinking about getting a marine betta for my 120g... but I'm also planning on keeping a lot of small fish (cardinals, etc.). Has anyone heard of Marine Bettas eating smaller fish?

I've heard of marine bettas eating small fish but it's very rare. Most of the people I know of who have them say that these guys are pretty much big babies. Like I said before I've got a friend who's betta is shy even around his neon gobies... and those guys are TINY.

If you're keeping cardinals you're fine, anything else you were thinking of keeping with that guy?

I had a friend who had one in his 265. It ate a pair of onyx clowns within minutes of them being added to the tank. They are in the grouper family and while mostly peaceful, they can eat anything that will fit in their mouth.

Oh wow, I've never heard of that. Wow, ya learn something new every day :D. Well @ OP just be on the side of caution with these guys. You can get a small one, mine is about 3 inches and it hasn't attacked anything. It's smaller than my angels and my anthias... if you don't count its fins (it's got HUGE fins).
