Marine Velvet Fresh water dip/tank transfer treatment

I agree that TTM for velvet simply isn't practical given the virulent nature of the parasite. Best to stick with CP for remediation.

I think the issue is more that fish with visible symptoms won't survive long enough to go through and finish the process.
 
I tend to agree. CP is the treatment of choice for professional aquarists.

Unfortunately CP doesn't work for pipefish and seahorses. There you need to rely on formalin dips as even freshwater dips may be too stressful for small specimen.

I have right now 4 blue stripes in quarantine (currently in 3 tanks) and observation is all I can do after the initial 50 min formalin dip.

For most other fish a prophylactic 2 week CP treatment may be advised.

Copper should be avoided. My main concern with it is that it diminishes the fish's immune system and may open the door for all kind of opportunistic infections.
