I just wanted to pass on that I have received official word from Marineland regarding their stealth heaters. Please see below.

Hello,

The Stealth and Stealth Pro 25-300w style heaters are currently under recall. Please read this information carefully and provide all of the information requested so we can get you taken care of as soon as possible.

We can send a call tag to pick up the heater at no charge to you. If you would like an electronic call tag please let us know and we will have FedEx send the call tag to your e-mail address. After printing the tag, package the heater and affix the tag to the box, and leave the box outside your residence. FedEx will pick it up.

To receive a refund, please provide us either with a receipt for your heater or a printout from your store or online retailer regarding what it would cost you to replace the heater, and we will refund the cost. Send it as an attachment to a reply to this e-mail (do not start a new e-mail.) If you do not have a receipt, we can offer a refund of average retail pricing. This varies depending on the wattage of the heater. We would also need your name, mailing address, and telephone number to process the refund.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you have any questions, please let me know or call 1-800-338-4896.

Sincerely,
United Pet Group

Yeah. I went to "That Fish Place" in Lancaster PA about a month ago. To my surprise I saw no Stealth heaters for sale after buying one 2 months prior. When I asked one of the sales guys he said that they were all recalled and that I should bring my heater back. He said that one of their customers had his 90 gallon tank crack when the heater overheated. What angered me was I saw nothing on there website warning customers and nothing in the store indicating any recall. When I brought mine back they begrudgingly took it back saying it works so whats the problem? They wanted to know the sales persons name who told me to return it. I didn't remember his name but i'm glad at least he was up front with the problem and seem to care about me as a customer but it was apparent his superiors did not.

I am sending mine back directly to Marineland.....hopefully it won't be a hassle....

Yikes! ALL of my heaters are Stealths. I'd always had good luck with Marineland's heaters! :( It looks like mine are NOT the ones that are recalled. I have all the "old style" without the LEDs and a 50w pro. Has anyone heard anything about those? I may call them tomorrow just in case.

Yep. I bought one this winter. Then I read about how they blow up and wipe out tanks. So I took it back. I few weeks later I got a letter from Mrineland on the recall. Mine had no LEDs, if you have these heaters take them back!

Just returned mine yesterday to Petsmart....They gave me the choice of swapping it out for a top fin heater or taking store credit....I took the store credit...
