has anyone had socking experiance yet?im contacting marine land .Ivce been electrocuted by 2 seperate heaters hurt my sps too

Is that the heater with the red dial on top and the glass is black cant see through or into the heater, its as well fully submersival??

I have read MANY reviews from/about these heaters shocking---I have decided against buying one now due to this common occurance

I have 5 of the stealths and they all work fine -- 4 of them for at least the past year an a half. I've seen another post where someone had a lose cap on the top of the heater and they got a shock. I don't think it is wide-spread.

OIC!!!! I thought he meant that Jebo was not a kind of heater--that maybe he meant to say Jager.

clin, not to pick on you (Welcome to RC BTW) Jebo is junk... Ebo Jager is junk, they all are junk.

You should be using a temperature controller AND GFCI. PERIOD! You and your livestock will be much safer.

If your rich perhaps! They are the best thing, but most of us don't want to spend$130- $200 on a temperature controller, when a quality tube heater does the job just fine!

i had a cheap heater plugged in to GFI shock tank and not trip the GFI. I have heard both good and bad with the grounding pobes......

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've using the heater for a while now and it works fine for me. The Jebo brand is quite popular in other parts of the world.

You may want to rethink you stance, as it has zero supporting logic.

There is no such thing as a "quality" tube heater. Your the guy who spends $10,000 on a setup and kills all of the livestock because you only spent $24 on a heater. It happens all day every day my friend.

The heater system is one of the single most important pieces of equipment on your tank. You can go for days without pumps, lights, food, etc. A malfunctioning heater can destroy your livestock in hours.

Aquarium heaters are simply not reliable devices, no matter what the brand. It is a matter of size and cost vs mechanical and electrical robustness. Small, Reliable, Cheap... pick any two. A RANCO or similar controller is a piece of industrial equipment that has a failure rate that is magnitudes lower than the hobby stuff.

If you would like, I can explain exactly why hobby heaters are junk... or you could just search the forums. In your travels you may want to take note of the THOUSANDS of heater failure threads here and at hundreds of other forums on the internet.

bean has a point,

you can roll either way, but i got a temp controller on ebay for like 35 bucks and i dunno what id do without it... a great investment, specially' if you dont want your tank cooked or chilled...

$35 is very reasonable! The ones I have seen are much more, but Bean is right, I guess, how bad it would be to cook your whole livestock because of a heater failure.

I had a Stealth heater blow up on me yesterday, literally. Blew the top piece of so hard it flew out of the tank and hit the cieling of our basement. Sounded like a fire cracker too. I have about 6 or 7 of these heaters on my broodstock tanks and thought they were great. Held temp very stable and plastic body was nice, but now I'm not so sure. Luckily it blew while I was there. Oh yea, and if anyone has any DIY skills, there is an awsome temp controller that works great in the DIY forum. Costs about $50-60 dollars and is a dual stage (two outlets heat, two outlets cool if you have a chiller).
