My Name, Mario Villalobos from Mx Guadalajara, After read a lot of your gourgeos builds and learning a lot of how you have been done .. im putting my tread to show what would be a dream come true .

For my setup I have to do some home improvements, doing some changes on a living room yard and making part of the space for my tank

Next step is to start the electical instalation, acrilic bases for the rocks and start the aquascaping

as you all can see, this would have natural light using ATI T5HO 80 watts as complement.
and thats one of my worries about, so i pump the question , what would be the best recomendation to a nice start on taking care on not exceed water nutrients ? ('cause algae)

thanks a bunch in advance

Its look good, good luck.

Are you buying the water in bottles and using your own RODI?

Hey ThankS!

i'm Buying the water in bottles , but is treated specialy for reef =)

Nice looking tank, will look awsome when finished.

Im in Hermosillo and will start a similar large reef tank, somewhere around 200g so I know how hard is it to set up a large reef tank here in Mexico.

Congratulations

Mario C.

I know Kmu was very hard to me, to get all the things , and you know the prices here are kind of high! .. I have planned this since 2 year ago .. =S .

but you know .. the rewards are invaluable!

Are you going to use the bottle water for top off etc to?

Hi waynem
you deserve an explanation . .

Where i live, the TDS on the water are plenty high ( i mean, we cant never, never think on drink the water or put into a freshwater aquarium)
to give you an example TDS measure is about 700 or 800 ppm

I consider many things on buying a RO/DI unit ..

a) to fill my thank (220 gal aprox + sump 50 gal) i would need to use like 750 gallons of whater to get it purified ( relation 1:4) on the RO/DI
and, i had the choice to reuse that waste water, mixed with fresh one , and use it for bathroom, garden, etc ..
but the truth is, I live alone with my brother and we cant never get the full use of that water,

after the filling the thank , i would change the RO/DI cartridges, and begin to use the same relationship between good water and bad one (4:1) to use for my evaporation

b) the expenses of the RO/DI unit ( as i mentioned before, prices are high here than other places) and the replacements are more than buying bottles with treated water

c) buying the exact water needed frequenly and put into a 50 gal container (for evaporation) to the long term represents more gain than cost of the water user ( i did make little conscience)
and the cost of changing cartridges every 2 or 3 months (for sediment and carbon) and 8 months for the RO membrane ,

that was my little concern at this begining, maybe later i will get a RO/DI , but just for minimal use, .. and in some emergency cases.

and to answer you question, yes ... i will use water in bottles to fillup the thank, (well the 50 gal reservoir) =))

**BTW i saw your setup .. beautiful!!

Regards
