Maristar II info

Does anyone know where I can find information on the Maristar II fixture, now that the SS forum is closed?

I know it will have 4 T5 bulbs rather than two, but, have they changed the reflectors on both the T5s and the MH at all?

Thanks,
kirk

From an Email Sam at SLS sent me when I inquired about it:

This is no Maristar but for the price it will produce a lot of light. with 4x54 T5 and german indivdiual reflectors. I would love to buy the new Maristar II but the price will have to be more than their current model so $1500 to 2000 ?? For that kind of money one can make a retro with the best T5 reflectors, IC 660 and maybe 5 to 6 T5 lamps and the best MH reflectors and lamps on the market today. imho

that unit is low quality. I use one of those fixtures on my 30gal and would not buy it again. The fan is loud and uses lower end parts. If you are going to spend that much you might as well spend a little bit more to get a better performing unit.

you can get the maristar 48" 250x2/t5s for about $1000,

I agree, the only reason I did not go with Giesemann is they do not have a tank mounting kit. I will definitely go with Giesemann if I can hang the fixture.
