Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

Mark, if you ever need anyone to look after the tank let me know. I work only about 10-15 minutes from your house.

On a side note be careful with SeaChem salt as of late. The last 20+ buckets I bought had the alk around 5DKH! Just when I thought I found a good salt :(

Thanks Rob for the heads up. That is one of my premises for mixing salts. I know that if I don't rely just on one source, it will help balance some of the numbers. I am looking forward to trying some of the newer salts on the market, but John is still deciding what one or two to bring in.

Ya, I'm mixing different brands as well now. I went and Seen John earlier and was talking to him about it as well.

It's not your monitor.......... :lol2:

Thanks Kenny. I appreciate the honesty. I would really like to get a color correcting software so I know the median hue is correct.

The pictures may look bad but the Tank still looks Killer!! You just need to get the hang of the new camera and you will be ok. I am dreading moving my tank with all the corals I have in it now..............John is trying to get me to frag half of my colonies and let him hold them ;) He was eye balling my 6+" colonies of PM and Aquascene Echinata hahaha

I just got a new monitor at work, and these pictures look terrible here :(

Looking great from here :smokin: Things are really looking amazing and growing in nicely! Seriously, when is your TOTM article coming out? ;)

Mark,

Your tank is amazing. Quick question. Im upgrading my tank to a 6' tank. between 24-30" wide. Do you know how much sand (pounds) you have in your tank. Im looking to do a shallow sand bed and all the sand caculators are saying I need about 200 pounds. I like the depth of your sand, so if you remember how much you put it, pls let me know.

thanks

Thanks. As for the sand, when you use the larger grain sand, you will need less dand as well. I believe that my freund Jim only used three 40 pound bags of natures ocean aragonite when he put a ssb in his old 180.

Mark found new friends to hang out with :( ...
I guess when he saw what we looked like in person that's all it took.:wildone:

Sorry Dan about the pictures. The tank and tank activities are taking a back seat as I am really burnt out these days. I started a new job in a different line of work last week and its kind of nice not being on the internet all day. I am trying too let the exhaustion pass, but once I get thoughts in my head, its really hard for me to get them out :(

Mark, no worries and congratulation on the new gig. It's always stressful starting a new opportunity, trying to hit your stride and understand all the new requirements, and trying to determine who's a friend and who's a foe. Your daily pictures have us like junkies, waiting for the next score. Good luck but we know you'll do well. (I still think that part of it is because you saw Ian in person, he's an ugly guy isn't he?):strooper:
