Mark's 180 Starfire upgrade

wow, nice favia! your joc's never touch it?

Nope, IME, centropyge are more of rock grazers and the sticks are more likely to get a nip here or there than a favia. I have a dozen or so favias in my tank. They all do fine.

Mark do you have or do you know where to get a piece of the Sponge Bob Favia? My daughter and I are big fans of SB and I told her I'd heard there was a coral out there with his name on it. I actually saw a piece online somewhere and really liked the color.

Lmk when you can,

Thanks

I do not, but I will PM you ;)

 Yeah at RAP they were auctioning off a Bowser Paly and my son really wanted me to buy it but at $80/polyp (IIRC) I had to disappoint him...again. I can't let him know about the SB favia.

I snapped this one a week or so ago

Great photo Bro! :D

I'm pretty excited today. The tank is looking good and I am finally picking up an external flash for the D90. Its just a sb600, but I am really hoping that it will give me enough extra light so I can trick the camera into the f/stop where I really want it to go :p

Sorry Brian, I just had to :D

The more I look at this tank, the more I love it! Love that watermelon chalice in the background of the photo with the joculator. So, none of your angelfish pick on your chalices or your zoos?? If not, lucky you!!

One more question: I can't remember the specs on your lighting. 3x 400W MH on lumenarcs? Do you run supplemental actinics at the same time as the MH or is it purely for dusk/dawn effect? If running at same time, what's the wattage?

Sorry, that was about 3 more questions!

Thanks!

Your Regal definitely looks nice, healthy, and purdy, but he is sooooooooooo tiny. It's ok though. He makes up for it with personality :D.

Thanks again.

The angels do not pay much attention to the chalices at all. An occasional nip once and awhile, but that would be about all. I am never one of those people that will say that my fish do not nip at my corals at all. When it comes to angel fish and their natural behavior, they will nip at different things as this the way they patrol for food; but I am just a angelfish fan. Their demeanor and personality is like no other. :)

As for lighting. The tank is lit by four 250 watt radiums driven bt SLS Blue wave HQI ballasts. I do have two 160 watt VHO's that I run for 10 hours a day. The halides are on for 5.

She Frankie, Its a she :D Angelfish are born into this world as females. Thanks for stopping by again today. Its nice to share the tank and my collection with someone who is so enthused  Sometimes I need to be reminded how cool this hobby is :)

Doh! You learn something new everyday. It's not hard to be enthused when I come to your house and see what I could possibly create. I could stare at your tank all day. :spin2:

Beautiful tank! Stupid question - what is the fish you are holding in your hand on the first page? It has the shape of a yellow tang but almost black in color. I've never seen one before.
