Maroon aggression

Is there anyway to prevent or lower her aggression towards my other fish? She's most aggressive towards my Halichoeres melanurus or Halichoeres richmondi (still can't figure out which one in it's juvenile stage). I grouped her up with a male a couple weeks ago and it's didn't seem to change much. Has anyone had success putting the maroon in a refugium and then introducing her to the display after an extended amount of time?

How many other fish are in there? 50gl should be ok for a maroon unless there's a lot of other fish in there. Maybe move some things around a bit.

i have same problem my Maroon in refugium now it took 2 weeks to catch em i dont i will keep any maroon in my tank

i will get rid of em as soon as i go to pets shop

i got Pair of Domino ClownFish i loved them 100000000 more than that maroon

even with 2 years feeding this maroon i hate him

There's 6 fish total. Fish list:
1 blue chromis
1pj cardinal
1 starry blenny
1 wrasse (mentioned above)
2 maroons (just got the male a couple weeks ago).

Thing is I don't really want to get rid of her (even if she is a b*tch), otherwise I would have already. I'm trying to see if anyone else has had success calming their maroon down in anyway, shape or form. I've had her for nearly the whole time I've been in the hobby (3.5 years) and she's made me smile too much. Also, moving things around is tough - most of my corals are at or getting to a point where moving the rocks would destroy some. Fwiw she lives in the red sea pulsing xenia (my first coral, which I trim monthly) and she's territorial when the wrasse swims by. She's ~3" and the male is ~1".

what fish would you recommend in a 50g? I feel like 6 fish is plenty. Not enough volume for a tang.

she treats the xenia in the picture as her nem. She hangs out, sleeps and chases the wrasse away from it.

One thing I should mention is that she doesn't seem to care AT ALL about the starry blenny. Strange.

I did someting simliar to what you are asking. I had a second tank (a little smaller) that was the home for my Maroon Clown. Once my main tank was established and stocked, I moved my Maroon over. This seemed to work for the most part, however, I will say that my Maroon was definitely Queen of the tank.

tomatoes = bad news... to the OP,putting in a potential mate will only raise her aggression, i would move her to your fuge for a while in hopes that she will calm down, and while shes in theere, move your rocks as best as you can without destroying your corals

Boy do I agree w/ that comment.
Maroons are just aggro by nature, it is what it is.
Anything that may seem logical to us like a time out or whatever probably won't change that, and the fact that she accepted her male and they may spawn could even increase that aggression, and adding a nem could even make her become even more territorial on top of that.
The only thing that could possibly make her a little more calm would be more space IMO.

No, no, no, no.....& no. Sorry buddy, but once an evil maroon always an evil maroon. My GSM has calmed with age, but she's around 8yrs old. She especially get's viscious with my turkey baster entering her cave to make sure her hubby get's fed too. This clown has went from a 180gal display to a 29gal then a 50gal stock tank in my possession. Her attitude decreased when she was first introduced into the stock tank lagoon, but that was gone after about 3 months.

Are they juvies or a 1000gal tank? I cannot buy into this logic that this scenario will end well for anything except maybe the maroon or tomato. I own both and know they both have their own do's and dont's and putting them together is a 'not in your wildest imagination' type ideology. This is not common practice or should not be put into clwon keeper's heads that this is the norm. It's not!

Thanks for the responses everyone. Fwiw they're white stripes, not golds. Tbh I'm not going to go through the trouble of catching both of them, put them in the fuge and minimally move my rock around. I can't see it working mostly due to my rocks being "in place" by corals, although I appreciate the advice. I didn't think there were any easy fixes but thought I'd ask. I will eventually move from my 50g (36x18x18) to ideally a 180g (72x24x24) but not for at least 2-3 years. That will be my best bet I imagine (more volume). I guess I'll just have to deal with it until I can upgrade.

We eventually got rid of our Maroons because she would draw blood on me when I put my hand in the tank for anything.

She eats from my hand, hopefully she doesn't start eating it. Sorry to hear you had to get rid of her, how big was she?
