maroon clown and RBTA

Hey All,

I just got a RBTA a couple of days ago and my Maroon went nuts. He found the RBTA within minutes of introduction to the tank and now does not let the poor thing spread. The RBTA has lost the bulb like appearance now, I don't know if the maroon will kill the poor thing. The maroon is about 4" long and the RBTA is maybe 4" fully open. any suggestions?

the bubbles come and go as it pleases but the clown may be too aggressive with it but i doubt it how strong were the lights from where you got it ,it may be stressed from too much light thus not opening how long and how did you acclimate it ?

I agree with my signature but this is cause for concern. The lighting system the RBTA was previously kept in was a complete T5 setup. I acclimated it for about 3hrs, slowly dripping it in. He was placed on the side of my Bow where it's slightly shaded, then the RBTA just attached on to a piece of Tonga where the light is somewhat still shaded. I just fed him some Krill which he just tore up then the clown went right back. After reading up some, I think I'm going to try and cover it with a strawberry crate and see how the RBTA reacts. I'm just affraid that he has not found his spot yet. I purposely placed him in an area with plenty of tonga branches, because I was told that he would love that.
Any suggestions?

Having bubble tips or not, isn't a sign of health, most seem to lose theirs in time -- in our tanks. No one has any concrete reasons why.

But, given the size of your anemone and the size of your clown, there is a chance that it could love it to death. I have seen it before with a pair of clarkiis. Maroons are notorious for being hard on anemones, especially BTAs, ideally the anemone would be 3 times the size of the clown. You are going to have to keep an eye on it, and might have to take action.

Awh man, this sucks! I was told that the clown will help him grow 3X faster then the normal rate without the clown. I even read it on one of the forums. Do you think it's a good idea to use a strawberrie crate? I'm just trying to figure out what is the best course of action without removing my maroon

If anything the clown will make it grow slower -- with the lack of size difference that you have. I guess it could be possible for a clown to make a larger one ever larger by feeding it, but not all clowns do that.

For the time being a strawberry basket will help, but think you will have to find a better way to separate them longterm.

ok, I went to over 6 different markets and could not find the strawberry baskets anywhere. they are now using plastic containers with flippable lids. Do you think I can use a speciment container and just drill some holes through for flow?
