Maroon Clown attacked smaller clown after 2 months of peace

So out of nowhere my larger(female) clown viscously attacked the smaller male. They have been coexisting for a few months with just an occasional "I'm the boss" peck. I turned off the lights and she seems to have calmed down but the little guy is beat up bad. Fins shredded. He's lying on his side in the sand and panting. I feel bad. Any hope for him? Should I do anything?

same thing happened to my ocelaris after a year. I put the little guy in one of those floating plastic boxes for love bearers, but alas, the little guy was too far gone .

Hope yours fairs better - not sure what you can do if he makes it through. My female was relentless

I would throw the female in the sump in hopes that the male would survive and have better odds without the added stress of a new environment
