Maroon Clown behavior?

I put a Maroon in my tank a couple months ago, and in the last few weeks it has begun to burrow under the Rocks in the back of the tank. I am concerned that he will continue to do this and my rock will fall and break the glass in the back of my tank....
He also has become very aggressive toward my Fox Face. My Fox Face has bite marks on his side and my girlfriend wants the Clown out of the tank now....
If I were to put an anemone in the tank, would the Clown stop burrowing the sand under the rocks? And would he become even more territorial over the anemone?

A white stripe maroon is the MOST aggressive of all clown species. Not knowing how large your tank is it hard to say if you've experiencing a territory issue. Maroon clowns are best in 55g or larger tanks.

From the behavior you describe it isn't unheard of for a maroon to kill everyone in the tank.

As it grows she will perhaps even attack you.

YES! An anemone will make the Maroon even more aggressive. My Maroon takes down any light rock that he doesn't like. He pushes it over with his mouth.

My tank is a 55g tall. My Maroon was about 3yrs old when I got it. It's an absolutely beautiful fish but it may have to go. The only fish it has an issue with in my tank is my Fox Face, which doesn't bother anyone.

I had a feeling the anemone wouldn't help with the aggression, but would it help with the burrowing?

Yes it would probably help with burrowing since Maroons LOVE anemones. He would spend most of his time in it.

If you do get an anemone make sure it is big enough for the Maroon otherwise he will love it to death.

LOL, it probably won't get any better. Mine coincides with my foxface pretty well, but she is a terror on everything else. I expect to have a clownfish/hairy mushroom tank only in the near future.

i had a 3" GSM clown and a sebae anemone in a 55g tank for 8 months with no problems. her tank mates were a purple tang, lawnmower blenny, CB angel, lyretail anthias, sixline wrasse, and a marine beta. she was only aggressive around the nem and at feeding. then again the majority of my fish were aggressive and could hold their own. i think a nem would help out a bit. i would worry about your foxface though. they are rated for a minimum of 100g tank and i think they grow to be about 15". good luck.

My GSM pair aren't nearly as aggressive towards other fish as they're reputed to be. That said, the female used to spit sand at a Lunare wrasse that she didn't much care for (he would spit it back at her...hilarious behavior). I've found that she digs up the sand and sprays it everywhere if her anemone is near the bottom. If not, she pretty much stays there as others have said. She does tend to topple rocks or corals that are placed somewhere she doesn't like. That's probably her most annoying habit.

thanks for all the replies. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the Clown. I would prefer to just take the Fox Face out but thats the fish that my girlfriend bought, and she loves him. So I am going to make a decision in the near future. I really like the Clown.

keep in mind that the foxface will outgrow that 55g tank. good luck.

My Gsm is only agressive when another fish gets with in a couple of inches of the Nem. She only wants to protect the nem. The only problem is the constant digging, she can clear a 6 in perimeter down to the glass around the nem in 2 days. I just keep pushing the sand back in, this really seems to **** of the clown. LOL Just make sure the Gsm's digging cant topple the rock pile.
