Hello,
My maroon clown seems to have damage to its dorsal fin that appeared suddenly about two days after I added a second fish, a coral beauty to the tank, these are the only two fish in the tank, specs are below:
35G Hex FOWLR
50 lbs live rock
shallow sand bed (<1")
3 years old
HOB-1 Skimmer
650 gph powerhead
Inhabitants: 3" female maroon clown, 2" coral beauty, trochus snail
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 20 ppm
pH: 8.2
temp: 78F
salinity: 1.025
I've linked a video I took tonight that shows the damage to the fin relatively well. My question is if this is fin rot, or simply nipping from the newly introduced coral beauty? The clown does seem less aggressive now and almost looks as if it is acting passively to the new fish, I think they may have had a confrontation that seems to be sorted out now but I just want to be sure that I shouldn't be treating for fin rot.
Another issue to note, I noticed the coral beauty with an attached stringy poop on two occasions in the past week, the string falls off after a few minutes by the look of it, I believe this indicates worms, although it doesn't seem severe, if it continues I'm going to try Prazi-Pro for treatment.
Please let me know your thoughts on both these issues, thanks!
