Hey guys I'm not new here but I appeared to of lost my Account/password on here.

I've got a maroon clown fish I've had for about a year that started to show signs of an odd white growth on one of his gills. I've seen it increase and decrease in size over the last week but does not seem to go away completely,i'm just looking for some help identifying what it might be and how I should treat it. After doing some research I feel like it might be a viral thing but I'm not entirely sure as I'm still pretty new to the hobby. I'll include aqp picture below thank you for your help!

I'd try to get a better picture. If it looks kind of like a small cotton ball hanging off the fish it could be Lymphocystis or Brooklynella. In my experience, lympho will go away on it's own with good feeding a little bit of time however Brook requires fungal treatment. It could also be Velvet or ich so better pictures would be very helpful in determining what it is.

I agree. I would bet on lymphocystis if it grows.

Thanks for your reply slief!
I'm fairly positive it's not Ich or velvet considering it been over a week and no other fish are showing signs of it. I've looked up brook but from the images I've seen it doesn't look similar. The mass has reduced in size over the last few days and the fish is acting and eating normal. I'll post up some more pics, but I'm sure you know how tricky they can be to photograph.
