Maroon Clown

I have had single maroon clown for over a year and has been hosting a GTBA. He has not shown aggression to my pygmy angels or yellow tang.

I have been wanting to get another maroon so they can pair up. What do you guys suggest?

How big is the single maroon you currently have? If it's of any size, it's probably a female and you'll need to get a small juvi maroon that's definitely a male or you'll have serious problems.

Get one that's much smaller than your current maroon but make sure that there are plenty of hiding places for him...as your current maroon may be aggressive towards the new tankmate

I'd suggest getting a bottle or some berrie baskets, the plastic kind.... put the new male in that and put it in the tank. Let the establish female get used to him. Furthermore, a hole in the container should be made so the male can leave the "safety-net" when its ready but the female cannot enter. It takes a while for them to get used to eachother. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES JUST DROP THE FISH IN THE TANK.
DO NO FLOAT THE NEW FISH IN THE BAG DIRECTLY IN SIGHT OF THE FEMALE. SHE WILL RIP AT THE BAG AND MOST LIKELY TEAR A HOLE IN THE BAG.

Wow! When I first got the clown it was about an inch now its about 3 1/2 maybe bigger. If I do get a smaller clown how do I know its a male by looking at it?

No yellow if its GSM Breed
Small, less than 1"

Its maroon with white bands. no gold

You just want to get the smallest GSM you can.
