maroon clown ?

Everyone always talks of Maroons being mean. I have never once been nipped by either my 2 1/2" gold stripe or my 1 1/2 white stripe maroons. Just lucky i guess.

Its more that they are mean to other clowns that are new to their territory--not all will bite hands. Never add a maroon, and then let time pass before adding another clown of any kind unless it is a HUGE tank.

I'm starting to see what people mean about maroons being mean. I think mine's actually just more protective, though. She gets along just fine with her tankmates, but if my hands linger too close to her anemone for too long, she'll either nip at them or actually ram right into my hand. Otherwise, she's quite tame. I don't make a habit of it, but sometimes just for fun, I'll feed her by hand.

My LFS has a ~60g reef that's been set up for ages, with a big GSM and a pair of pink skunks that host in a green carpet anemone. The GSM is the most laid back maroon I've ever seen, very peaceful fish. OTOH, I had a little 2" white-striped maroon that was an absolute killing machine. She murdered three fish before we figured out what was going on (my husband witnessed the last one), and though she was pretty calm when I got her, after a couple months she changed and would bite me incessantly when I had my hands in the tank. I wouldn't chance putting a maroon with an oscellaris or any other type of clown, unless your maroon is extremely easy going.
