I've had my BTA for about a month and a half now. When it was first added to the tank my Maroons immediatly took to it and beat the crap out of it. Eventually the clowns got thier way and the anemone went behind the rock and stayed there even though it was in a position we couldn't feed it. We've moved it several times to put it in a position to feed it.
About 3 weeks ago we lost our small cleaner shrimp the same night it molted. We weren't sure what happened to it.
After about 2 weeks without feeding we turned the rock around again. We started feeding it a small chunk of silverside during every fish feeding, hopefully to convince it to stay put. It has stayed put for a while now.
A few nights ago we lost a chromis. We had 7 of them but they didn't really display much aggression. I think they have thier pecking order sorted out. Most of the day they school and follow the blue hippo around like mommy.
Yesterday I think we got our answer as to what's happening. After the MH's went out, our larger cleaner shrimp took his normal upside down purch in the center of the tank, (drive thru wash) which happens to be just to the left of the anemone. Our female maroon clown grabbed the shrimp by the antenna and started dragging it to the anemone. Luckily this one was strong enough to get away.
Anyone else see anything like this?
