Maroon moving sand

I friend of mine has a maroon clown and a LTA that it host every time I go to his house and check out his tank the clown is fanning sand almost as if he trying to move the sand so the LTA can move around the rock work.

Have any of you seen this before or know why it might be doing this.

I have a male/female pair and they do it all the time. I've read somewhere they do that before spawning, but mine never have.
It just makes a mess sometimes.

My female cinnamon clown does the same thing since I added in a BTA that is hosting her. I have no idea why, but it makes a mess. Oh well.... I wouldn't dare sticking my hand in there to move the sand back, I might get eaten alive by her!

I need some gloves now...
