Maroon Mutt???

Hello all, I was wondering at first sight my maroon clown fish seems to be just that, a maroon clown fish. But if you look closer he seems to have an absence of both cheek spines, but the baring of a maroon, and the trim of his fins seem to be a black except for the dorsal fin which is just pure reddish orange. I've put a picture of what a Normal maroon clown looks to me then I put what my clown looks like.

Here is what mine looks like ( one on bottom of pair ) blurry pic, sorry.



The pic above is the actual clown but this is a really good representation picture of what my clown looks up close. (Except for the yellow and Notice the absence of the cheek spine)

Ok guys tell me what you think is it a pure maroon or some type of hybrid??

Spine probably got ripped off at one point. Or it could just be real small. My female is about 3.5 inches and I can barely see the cheekspine

Oh OK, mines only about 2 inches so its invisible lol. just the coloration pattern I find unusual as most maroons are a solid red with the white or gold baring.

Gold Stripes have white bars when they are juvi and then the bars turn gold. Maybe yours is a GSM that hasn't turned yet or isn't going to turn for some reason.

but is it only unique to GSM to have that sort of trimming of black on them? if it is that would be AWESOME I love GSMs

the black in the fins fades away over time as they mature. My gsm had them when they were smaller and the black fades away over time. Too bad too, they look awesome with it. If only they were such terrorizors.

That is interesting hmm I wonder if this blackness is only to GSM or if it could be for the regular maroon too?

I have been asking the same questions lol.. Thinking I have some weird cross lol nut as she is getting bigger she is getting darker and darker so I know it will fade, and the gold stripes are starting to come out as well

yea me too. i just want to wait a bit to add another maroon until I see if my small one is a GSM or a regular.
