cool misbar spot, eh? :)

Very nice! Did you have any trouble pairing them, since the male is a little bigger? I tried pairing my new female with a smaller juvenile about that size and ended up losing him mysteriously.

Don't take it personally...this forum has been kind of slow lately. Maroons are popular around here, especially GSMs. They're one of my favorite species; my tank is actually going to be set up around a pair and their anemone(s). I have a beautiful female, about 3" long. My LFS has ordered a juvenile from SA so I can try pairing her off again. I also have a colonial-form RBTA planned for them down the road, once my tank has "aged" enough. :D

I love Maroon clown fish...my favorite actually. Would be nice if they didn't have such a ****y temperament though. I had one for close to 5 years.

It's funny cause the first day was a little rocky, the second day was a little less, and by the third day they were sharing an anemone, lol... The wsm is only the second maroon that gsm has ever been with... And so far, my gsm is a lot of bark and almost no bite, lol, she only bites stuff I'm trying to glue down, lol, shew always been really calm though

BTW, I got the white stripe maroon as an occelaris for 20 bucks, the lady at the pet store wouldn't listen so I think I got it for a way cheaper price, Haha, especially for an instant pairing... I've always had good luck pairing clowns though, Haha

that gold striped maroon is one of the first fish that i got when i started saltwater, its mate disappeared in the first month and i was never able to get a decent looking gold stripe to pair it again... i saw this white stripe and realized it was about the same size as the gold stripe at home, so i bought it in hopes i could have an odd pair

i have a gold male and white female 8 years old in a haddonni and they are very nice. lay eggs too much. they never bite me i hand feed them and even with eggs i can put my hand right by them and they won't do anything they and the nem are my favorite part of the tank

This is just an observation from when I worked in retail but when I pair up captive bred males (juveniles), they almost NEVER knew to do the "shimmy dance" for the female. It usually prevents her from chasing him off/killing him. However, when I used wild caught males (juveniles), they figured it out instantly. I'm not saying to pair up wild caught individuals but it was always easier to do if A) the male had a place to escape to and B) if they were introduced into an aquarium at the same time (preferably the quarantine tank because they both had equal footing).

So my question is: is the white stripe captive bred or wild caught?

you know, im not sure, it did in fact do the shimmy, haha, but all of my clowns have done that, i had a pair of percs do that and i know for a fact that they were captive bred... btw, everything is going good with the pair, the fins on the new maroon are starting to heal up too (the fins were a bit ratty when i first got him)
