Maroon Question

My daughter is keeping a baby Maroon Clown in her 30g.
It is about 1.5inches long.
The other fish in the tank are one green Mandarin & one Citrinis ClownGoby.

Would it be possible to add another Maroon Clown so they can become a mated pair? (if we find one smaller?). Or would it be better to find one the same seize or bigger?
She also wants to get a BTA. Do we add it before or after the second Clown (if even possible)

Thank you!
Alex

Maroons are very picky when selecting a mate. What ever you don't get two of the same size. People normally suggest getting one smaller than the maroon in the tank. I tried this and the new one disappeared. So I got one that was much larger and obviously a female. She chased the smaller one around, but he was able to hide. They are no longer fighting. The smaller one is now more red than maroon. But I don't think they've actually paired. He stays by his Paly rock and she stays near her LR cave. If you get a big clown, make sure there are places you 1.5" clown can hide and the larger one cannot get to it.

give the existing clown time to transition into the female role.
THEN BUY THE SMALLEST CLOWN YOU CAN FIND. If its a GSM, the clown cannot have any gold on it...
