Maroon x Percula ?

I have a random question. Does anyone know if a maroon and perc have ever been crossed? Would a mature maroon accept an immature perc as a mate or are they too aware that they are different?

I know someone is going to ask "why" so here's why - I have a mature maroon, but would love to also have a perc. so I'm wondering if there's anyway of pairing them so I can have one of each.

I've never heard of them breeding together. One is in the genus Amphiprion and one is in the genus Premnas. I would expect the maroon to terrorize the percula and possibly kill it.

I bought 2 small maroons a couple of months ago but 1 died within the 1st 2 weeks. I had hopes they would get big and pair up. I bought them out of town. I wanted percs but they were out of them and the maroons were on sale.
3 weeks ago the only LFS got a big shipment of over 60 tank raised percs and they were 1/2 normal price. I remember reading someplace that any type of clowns can pair up so I bought a perc. They have both been in my 55 for a few weeks now and they don't pay much attention to each other. The perc is a little bigger than the maroon. The couple of weeks that the 2 maroons were together, they stayed side by side but I figure they were raised together from birth since they were tank bred also. I asked on here a week or so ago and only got 2 replies that both said someday the maroon will kill the perc. They are both happy juvis now so I just decided to take my chances and wait to see what happens.

^ you'll have a while, and you'll notice the maroon getting aggressive which should give you plenty of time to get the perc out.

There have been crosses of maroons and ocellaris that have produced babies. In one of the cases both maroon and ocellaris started out small and I think the ocellaris became the female.

Oh thanks everyone. I know it's hard enough to pair 2 maroons so that's probably what I'll end up doing but it is interesting to know that a cross has been made.
