Maroun 150g Build Thread

Some pics of the last coral shipment I got from Vienna. Taking pics wasn't very easy because of the T5s reflection on the water.
Tank had 8 54 w bulbs over it in an ATI fixture. Never expected T5s could give such a strong light. all corals were inches below water surface including Acans and they were all doing great.

Unfortunately lost 2-3 corals on teh way because of a big delay in a connection in Paris due to a stupid Strike there...

Group pics of some:
lost the two on the top of this pic (blue tip staghorn and a green slimer)

Ended up taking the one next to the scoly in the first pic.

A nice green Seriatopora. Also got the nicest wine red sylopora hystix I as on the look for since months. No pics from store though...

The usual Baggage picture.
Its good I had some spare space for some clothes (8 dyas travel) to be squeezed. Luckily minimum water leaked to soak my cloth this time eventhough the foam box was crushed. couple of towels did a great job...

DSC_2521.jpg

and some pics of the corals in my tank.
They don't look the best but that was after 30 hours of shipping in rather small water bags...

Electric Green monti lost most of it's color but still had PE.

Seriatopora, Looking better than in pic.
DSC_2541.jpg

Red Bird nest, arrived with many broken branches and looking pinckish. Hope it won't bleach
DSC_2523.jpg

White accropora with fluorescent pistach polyps, Really hoping this one will make it. will get a better pic when back showing the polyps. Any ID?
DSC_2525.jpg

Electric Green Millepora in the back,
Looking very tan green for now. Corals in that cube also lost some color after the pump exchaning water between the cube, Frag tank and tank was off.
DSC_2530.jpg

Tank Bred Maxima in the middle, the one on its left is a very shiny blue clam but looks very tank in comparison to the new one. its around 2-3 inches do you think I should supplement more phyto to the tank?

DSC_2555.jpg

The Scoly looks a bit better in real life than in the pic, however LFS lighting made the reds pop more than my halides and 14k and Actinic T5s are doing

And a long due update.
Tank has been running stable the last couple of months. All parameters seem to be fine except for a bit of nitrates I'm dealing with.
had my RO inspected and all the filters were changed. they also modified the output valve to a igger 400ml one which will cause more water to go to the drain but lower my RO further.
Getting 5-8 TDS post RO with input water at 250 TDS.
Also finally installed my DI filter so that sould help lower the nitrates further.
Fuge has been growing crazy lately.
A few new additions (pics to follow) but I sadly lost my purple tank which never did well in the 5-6 months I've had it, it ate like crazy but his stomach was always deflated not sure if he had some intenstinal parasites or what...
Also lost a couple of clams and the oters I have are not looking happy except a couple that are doign great so not sure what is causing all this.
Jan tank photo run down.

DSC_3862.jpg

And a 3rd Super slow blue one, ORA Blue oregon tort not sure if the lack of place to encrust is causing it to grow very slow vertical as others mentioned it encrusts and then starts to grow. Still I have seen some vertical growth lately which is a good sign.

Some Amazing shots here. Love the stretching shot of the tang.
Any idea why most of your LPS and softies are not looking their best lately?
How about the clam losses could you have a clam nipper in the tank? Maybe check for Pyramid snails?
How about the upgrade any news?

Thanks Fred.
Lately the tank has been through some Alk-Ca levels fluctuations and a couple of harsh temp drops due to a heater failing just before I traveled and not being able to replace it before 1 week, only to notice the 2nd heater was disconnected... As well as high nitrate levels due to my RO giving me 80TDS water.
All this has been solved now and I connected my DI finally so Top off and water change is now with 0 TDS water which should help stabilize things.
Still not sure why the Softies and LPS are struggling more than the SPS. Flow is definitly on the strong side but they always handled it fine.
As for the clams it's a total disappointment, After months of not losing a single one all of a sudden I lost 3 and most of the remaining ones were not looking good. observed fish and none is nipping at them. Also no snails on them. not sure if its the high No3 levels that the tank had the last 2-3 months that's affecting the clams.

As for the upgrade well finally the tank design and dimensions has been finalized and the tank was ordered last Friday.
Some of the changes:

-Tank size went from 340G to 380G
-dimensions are now 88"L x 34"w x 30"H (Length increased 8")
-Went with Starphire on the Front and side pannels
-External side overflow

Will be starting a new thread for the upgrade as soon as tings start to happen (3-4 weeks)

Some long due updates.

Begining with some of the last months addtions.
