Re: Content Management System
Re: Content Management System
Just a little background on the website and webmaster position. In 2004 (?), our club elected a webmaster. During the first 6 months or so, nothing got done on our website. A lot of people got on his case (me included) about getting the website updated. The old webmaster resigned. Next thing I know - I was the webmaster (without me even knowing about it). All my close friends knew that this was not a position I wanted, but I reluctantly agreed to do the technical aspect of the website as long as someone did the contents. Several people offered to help with content, but in the end, no one ever did anything (except recently when Shiela updated the events page). Since no one really wanted to contribute, I figured why should I put in the effort. So I went on with other activities in my life.
This isn't something new to me. I have helped other websites where no one provided content, so the websites went stale. I have also done other websites where content was provided to me, so the website is always up to date. Right now - I am helping with a rottweiler rescue website, and content is provided to me several times a week. BTW - I have heard some people complain about the newsletter as well. Same story - VERY FEW people contributed to the newsletter. But yet, a lot of people complained that it wasn't being published.
Honestly - I don't have any bitterness towards this. It's nothing new to me at all. I am just trying to lay out the facts.
My new hobby is scuba diving. I took a 4 week course. Now I am just practice diving before I go for my advanced open water. BTW - I never knew Monterey Bay had so much marine life. There's anemones, nudibranchs, gobies, and so on. Sure it's not as nice as the reef, but it sure has a lot of interesting life. Going to Cozumel in September for a week for my honeymoon and diving.
BTW - I am always looking for people to go diving with. It can be local (Folsom Lake) or as far as MB.

I know how difficult it can be to keep the website up to date.
