Marsaqua 165w Lenses

Hey y'all, so I have a 150 gallon 72x18x28. I ordered 3 of the Marsaqua 165w fixtures. I really don't want red or green dots in the tank or disco effect if you will. After talking to a friend of mine he suggested taking the lenses off or coloring the reds and greens in with a sharpie. I think I would rather take the lenses off which would also give me more spread over a 72 inch tank. The only think I'm worried about is loosing par in a 28 inch deep tank. I am going to mount them in the canopy probably about 8 to 10 inches from the surface. Does anybody have experience with this? Would I loose enough par to be worried about sps on the bottom of the tank? Thanks in advance. Happy reefing!

In a 28" deep tank with lights 8-10" off the surface its unlikely that you have a disco effect problem..
The colors will blend just fine at those distances..

There are also very few red/green leds and if you really want to cover them up the PAR loss will be very minimal.. But I doubt its going to be a problem at all..

Thanks for the response! I installed them earlier today there isn't really a disco effect you're right about that but the reds definitely give the white a bit of a pink look in the top half of the tank. I might just cover those up with something

Reds often help with color rendition of red fish, etc...
But if that isnt something you care much about then cover away
