Slave to the reef!
So at about 5:15 this morning i woke up to a loud "ERRRR ERRRRR" sound. I have heard this sound before, its called electricity. I immediately ran to my tank the fish room was full of smoke, the the smoke detector went off. Any my wife was frantic. It seems that one of my john guest fittings on my float valve wasn't all the way seated in right. My tank continued to flood until water began to run into my heater control module and cause it to short out. It just melted it to you know what. Luckily the PC-100a switch boxes have a 20 amp breaker in them, it flipped the breaker and cut the power. Nothing was harmed in my tank and all is well. I am now using my ACII to control the heater. I tore apart the thermostat box and wired it straight up to the cord. Works like a champ.

Just think all i would have had was wet carpet if i just would have had the electrical device mounted instead of sitting on the floor of my stand. Yet another lesson learned there.

Dang Jeremy, when are you going to get a break in this hobby? If it's not one thing, it's another for you. :( Keep at man, you should have most of the bugs worked out of your system by now. :D

Don't forget to show us your new skimmer in action!

Funny thing about it was i was just telling my friend Ray how awesome my float valve was adn that it could never fail. Well it didn't but the line it was hooked up to sure did.

Im hoping to get the skimmer tommorow. I gotta get some Bass Guitar equipment on ebay so i can pay for it. Anyone need a 700 watt, 6 foot tall bass amp?

you are the luciest yet unluckiest mo fo I know. how do you manage to pull out ahead on every unfortunate deal you get into. seems like we all have something to learn from you. good or bad.

I like to call it "stupid luck".
But yeah, the reason i post about these stupid mistakes is so you guys can learn how not to setup a reef tank.

I wonder if i could do a presentation about that???

heh

when you say bass amp, you mean the entire enclosure including speakers and plate amp? Or just the box/woofers? I could use a couple amplifiers.

Here's my 3' tall, 12", 50watt monster. (The sub can handle 700+RMS, but I cant)
