MASNA Award Nominations

All. The MTRC is a MASNA club and they are now accepting nominations for their annual MASNA award. MASNA is the "Marine Aquarium Societies of North America" and they sponsor things like MACNA, and do things to support local clubs. For us, I am using them to gain contacts to some of the "big name" speakers to try and get someone for our Frag Swap in January.

Anyway, here is an email about the MASNA award nominations:
Each year at the annual MACNA conference, MASNA presents an award to the person who is considered to have made an outstanding contribution to the marine aquarium hobby. This person is selected by marine aquarium hobbyists all over North America - the MASNA membership.

Please take a moment to nominate the person you feel is worthy of this award along with a brief statement explaining why.

Past Recipients are:

Bill Addison
Eric Borneman
Dr. Bruce A. Carlson
Tom Frakes
Larry Jackson
Scott Michael
Martin Moe, Jr.
Dr. Ron Shimek
Anthony Calfo
Julian Sprung
Bob Fenner
Sanjay Joshi

Deadline for submissions is July 15, 2007 - http://www.masna.org/awardballot.php

YOU MUST BE A CURRENT MASNA MEMBER TO NOMINATE (for clubs - only the MASNA delegate may nominate someone, so please poll your membership and have the delegate place the club's nomination)

If you have someone you would like to nominate, go ahead and post to this thread. I'm the official delegate for MTRC to MASNA so I will place the nomination on behalf of our club based on your responses.

I would like to nominate Randy Holmes-Farley. He did quite a bit over in the Chemistry forum of RC to dispel a bunch of myths, and also to add to the hobby by coming up with a simple 2-part calcium and alkalinity supplementation scheme, which is very cost effective. Just take a look at all the articles he wrote that have helped countless reefer's, I am sure:

any seconds to nominating him? Others you'd like to nominate?

I was thinking the EXACT same thing before I read your post. In fact, I was surprised to not see his name already on the list.

I second that one, Jack!

I third Randy Holmes-Farley. I think he completely worked over the chemistry forum and now that he is gone it is certainly noticed.
