Massive die off

I recently lost a lot of fish. I thought I was treating ich but having 7 fish die in three days and seeing some swim in the current of a power head makes me wonder if it is/was velvet. I'm sending a few fish for necropsies to find out for sure.

My question is how long to leave my tank without fish before adding fish again?

Yep, velvet.

Swimming into the current of the powerhead is confirmation.

I believe 76 days is the magic number.
