i have now mastered the lighting for sps and all corals after a lot of reading over the past month.

-- you dont need nucular light to grow any coral.

what i am doing now is 12 or more hours of actinic PC
and 9 hours of halide.

what are good actinic pc bulbs?

what are good 150 hqi halide bulbs for growth and color in sps?

i plan on doing 12 or more actinic
and 7 halide with nex bulbs and new ballast

Oh great one ! When you comedown off your high horse please enlighten us in your ways of wisdom !:D

laugh now... your tanks just as much help as most!

when you have high nutrients (excess) you should have a longer photo period.

when you have low nutrients (highly skimmed tanks and such) you need lower photo period.

--that helps keep the corals growing, healthy, and colorful

Sounds to me like you need to read some more. It is generally known that the best color and the best growth are not going to come from the same bulb...that is why you have actintic supplementation...to offset the lower K bulbs that will give you the good growth.

you got the basics i see (the cleaner the water the more light penetration) so the lcoals lighting up to not absorb as much light

how about this one for you ----flow add a few more power heads and see how the corals handle the change

i believe flow (gas exhange and food) is more important in a sps tank than lights

chad i know what sps need to thrive... it is just hard to afford big powerheads.

water quality, food, flow, THEN light are inportant things for sps.
