I've been looking at them online for quite sometime now, but I was shot down on getting anymore tangs.... We'll see about that when I get the new tank.... :lolspin:

Wow! Nice!

What new tank are you setting up, Mikey?

Brandon

Been looking at the 300g tank at Critters..... Seriously thinking about it, BUT it has to wait until I redo my flooring in my living room which won't get done until Spring-Summer. This time is for sure I'll be getting the new tank, but I had to make compromise to get rid of my other two, 90 and the 55.... And I was given ok to setup that 29g tank I got from James, it's an awesome tank sitting here collecting dust, I need to get the rest of the parts to finish it....

That's a nice tank, I'm sure a deposit would hold it or if he sells that one he can get you another. The Quality is much better since they sold Ocea to a new owner.
Lots of Tangs would fit in that sucker along with piles of your money to get it going.

That's what I'm saying, lots of tangs will fit in that one...lol.... Chris told me that one is sold, but he said when I'm ready for one, he'll get me one.... I'll try to keep as much parts from the other two tanks along with the MH's from the 90, then purchase one more MH along with some T-5's. Haven't decided if I want to go with closed loop or wave box.... Keeping my sump from my 90, then get another sump since that tank have two overflows. I'm gonna start gathering more parts this coming spring.....

You could keep both 90's for sump/Fuge's as that would be just about right for that size tank, They just released the MP60's 5500 gph so a couple of those and your off to the races Ha!

Waveboxes

Waveboxes

I'm a huge fan of the wavebox. Once you see how they create current in your tank you won't want anything else.

I've seen them and IMO they take up way too much room in the tank and a couple of MP40's will do the same or better and they are very small footprint compared to waveboxe's. And IMO the BIG plus is that even I can program a MP40. LOL

That's the same Chevron that has been there for several weeks FYI. What kind of Tang is that mata? A grazer or more like a Vlamingi or what? Never seen one like it.

me neither.. if it is anything like the photo, it looks pretty nice. judging from the mouth structure and shape I would say it is more along the lines of the Sohals and regals. doesnt look like a bristle tooth variety like the kole or chevron. I would say this fish is much more of a swimmer like the vlamingi's judging by the body style, and less of a constant grazer.

and on that chevron, too bad they are that expensive. I would love to have, but havent the money or frags to sell to get that kind of change....

The mata seemed to be in good health, was a little secluded and kinda hung back in the tank so I couldn't get the best view. May have just been stressed from the trip, lack of rocks, or its venomous roommate(Japanese Waspfish). But overall swimming fine and no visable signs of distress. The pic above appears to be an adult as they become more colorful with time as I understand. The one at ac had very little yellow. Also guys at ac said he's similar to a Vlamingi. I would equate that to size and swimming only. Few posters on rc claim there very hardy and absolute pigs when eating growing very quickly. Odd they still have the chevron, I've seen him there last 2 weeks. Absolute beauty, and only 125. They still have the 8 line butterfly too. I actually considered getting it, then read online that in the wild their main diet is sps polyps. That could be expensive lol.

The 90 is a RR bowfront so it won't fit underneath. I do like the Vortech pumps, but I like the flow the wave box gives unlike a steady stream motion a vortech does. With my vortech, I can not place any LPS in it's way cause it'll blast it to death. With the wave box I'll have the option of placing the LPS where ever I want. Which that is what I want because I have two pairs of clowns I want to place into the tank together and they both likes to host frogspawn and zoas. So I place some on both ends so they'll stay away from one another. A dangerous game I play but you would think a 300g tank is big enough for both pairs. I had both for many years and I really don't want to give up either pair. Unless I get the 29 setup in time to move one pair into it. I may use the 55 as a sump like you've suggested, I think that's a great idea in which would save me on cost on getting a new sump. :)

Chevron Tang looses their coloring once they mature, I rather go for the Mata Tang. I have read that they are fast growers....
