Mata Tang

Shellyfish

I stopped in at one of my lfs's today. They had a Mata tang, probably about 3" or so. Really neat looking fish. The guy said it would get about 6". So I decided to come home and do some research. I have seen a few sites that say that the ideal tank is 75g and they get about 6". I have also seen that they get 19" and need at least 300g, as well as they get aggressive. Can someone clear this up for me? Which is it? My tank is 150g, and I don't want to stick a fish in there that won't do well or will outgrow (or terrorize everyone else) it.

Thanks!

That's what I thought, I figured the 6" thing couldn't be correct. Sigh, oh well, I'm thinking 150g is just not big enough for one.

Mine is around 12'' and runs a 400gal. He is will crush anybody in his way, to be honest he kinda scares me. There is 3 more tangs his size with him and they got it figured out who the daddy is. That said i love him in my tank and he is a great fish. Him and a 10'' French angel sleep in the same cave at night and got a deal going of some sort.

Would love to see pictures of the mata and the angel. I have a french angel also around 8" in my 220 and will either have to upgrade soon or sell him to a friend.

Ill see if i can get a pic of mine, probable pushing 9 inches at the moment. Bought in aug as a 1.5 inch fish. He is not staying in my tank, just in holding pattern until june.
