Mate for C. interrupta

My large C. interrupta male "Fabio" is just dying to spawn with someone and tries to get in on the action with my bandit angels. A female C. interruptus is not in my budget so I am looking for opinions as to which Centropyge species to get as a mate for Fabio.
I have talked with Copps about this and he recommended C. multicolor because it is in the same complex as interrupta and is the only affordable fish in that complex. My worry about that is the possibility that the offspring may look washed out in color.
I've attached a photo of Fabio taken by my friend Leighton Lum so that you can see how desperate he looks.:love1:

Anyone have any suggestions as to a girlfriend for Fabio?

I dont thing you should be too concerned about the offspiring, I dont think that they can be raised that easily

RayL-No Worries and no disrespect taken. You were just giving back good advice.

So far I have only gotten to day 26 with the bandits. They have slowed down in spawning with the warmer temps but as soon as they're ready, I'm ready to start again.

humaguy- venustus is an interested ideas. I hadn't thought of that one.

Thanks!

If you ever do manage to successfully breed bandits I will be in line waiting for one, after seeing Humaguys newest acquisition, I would love nothing more then to get one that size.

Do you have a website showing what you do, would love to follow the process

go for your native fish C.Potteri....basic color skin is close enough...also me think byproduct will look very good too...

As i doubt she will beat her own drum,so i can give you some small info(incomplete by a margin)....she,along with Bruce Carlson breed Personatus angelfish for the first time...she also first captive breed full bar Latzonatus Clownfish and G.Watanabei...she breed flame angel too,if my memory serves right....:hammer:

I remember that John once written about interrupta and jockulator spawn in a guys tank. That for me will be a interesting mix

I would also love to have a bandit that size. So I'm going to make one and I'll try to make one for you too! :bounce2:
I don't have a web site but there are some videos on youtube. My friends have been encouraging me to get on Facebook to show what I'm working on but my time is limited and I'm so slow on the computer that I just keep putting it off. It's on the list though.

auem- It's great to have a fan! thanks! For the record I haven't raised flame angels but since you brought them up I'm thinking that may be a good match with the interupta since they are both Hawaiian as is the potters.

Yurivd- If I remember correctly I think joculator is also in the same complex with interrupta so if there was a spawning between those two maybe I should really stick with that complex and go with the multicolor. Joculator although it is less expensive than an interrupta is also out of my budget but I think that would be a stunning hybrid.

Thanks for all your input and I need a lesson on how to use more than one quote in a reply:uhoh3:

Paka. Hi, it's Rufus. The 1-2cm bandeds are just starting to settle on the reef. We've gotten a few recently. If you think they'd make good brood stock I'm sure we can work something out.

If you promise to breed me one.....

I'd be happy to try and raise one for you too Yurivd:beer:

Hey Rufus, I have an adult pair of bandits that spawns well Nov. through April that Matt R collected. I probably should look for another back up pair but they don't need to be as small as the ones you are collecting now. 3 to 4 inches is a good starting place for future broodstock.
Have you seen any G. personatus lately :spin3: (talk about out of my budget! but a girl can dream)

I think wih your track record breeding the reefing community should start some donations to get you a female. After all its time we support captive breeding and give a little back. Let me know, I gotta $100 on it.

great idea!
I am in....

well said.
I am sure if she documented her fish breeding, some of the reef magazines would pay enough for it ... or even small booklets ... but I guess some of those info are the secret.
