Matted file fish

Does anyone have any success storied with these guys in a reef or do they all end up killing things? Also, what are they most likely to nip? I have LPS and softies. I have one in QT now that was going to go in my reef, but now I'm having second thoughts! I do have majanos and aptasia that I would love gone, but not at the expense of my corals!

I had two... neither ever bothered any corals.

I have a pair now with no troubles.
Last one I had was fine here, but went rogue in my sisters tank eating shrimp and zoas.
Fascinating fish.

Good to know. He's already eating like a pig in QT, so hopefully I can keep him well fed enough to not bother corals.

They do seem great at ridding apt, but they can nip other things after that is gone.
Our local club passes one or two around for this reason.
Fairly easy to catch.

Lol, it took me a minute to get this, then I remembered you call your tank an aptasia ranch!

mine doesn't bother any corals either, but that includes aiptasia too, but I do feed my tank heavily so thats probably the reason..

I've had one for a few months now and he really loves PE Mysis but doesn't touch any coral. I really like the little guy actually. He went down the overflow and wound up in the fuge for about 2 weeks before I realized he was down there and caught him haha.

Well, I do hope he'll help me with my majano/aptasia issue, but I think I would settle for him not eating my corals!

I had one for a couple months and I loved his behaviors. He seemed so elegant. He started out eating my aptasia but I think I fed him pretty well so he left them alone soon after. Never looked twice at my corals. Hth!
