Mauritus Flasher Wrasse

I am very nervously awaiting the delivery of my newest rare wrasse addition, the Mauritus Flasher Wrasse. I just got the email with the fedex tracking number. I got a tip a few weeks back that these were coming to the US so I immediately made contact expressing interest. After a few days of exchanging emails Dominick of Diamonds of the Reef gave me the good and also the bad news. Yes hes would sell me this incredible beautiful fish but that the off the charts never seen before level of awesome supermale died. The sub male was doing great eating and out and about swimming. Of course this male looks like every picture I have seen of this fish so I wasn't as disapointed. Dominick wanted to keep the fish for a week or so in QT to make sure he was healthy and ready for the next leg of his trip. I am actually more excited than nervous about the shipping because I know he packed extra water and took lots of care in getting him ready to go. The only X factor is Fedex, but we took out insurance. I was also lucky that Sanjay stopped over to take some fish pics at Diamonds of the Reef and I can share a very good pic of my latest addition 12 hours before it shows up. With out further ado,Paracheilinus piscilineatus.

He seems to be doing well so far but getting a lot of attention from my Marjorie and Balteatus. Both keep swimming at the container and flashing. He may end up living in my 60 cube all by himself if this keeps up.

Sooem good news, tonite I was able to capture and relocate the agressive Marjorie Wrasse. Put in as a female she turned he rather quickly and from there was always chasing and aggressive. From the minute the new flasher went in he was bumping the socialization container and really going after him through the acrylic, I had never had one of my wrasses ever give the container a second look in the past but I wasn't about to take the chance that he would kill the new Flasher. Marjorie is now in the 620 where all naughty fish have been relocated over the years :). It seems to put them right in there place and they become great tank mates, lets hope this will happen again. So if things look calm tomorrow The Mauritus will get released into the system with his other rare friends.

that supermale was monstrous in coloration...bad luck..
hope this fish will someday get some mates and turned into supermale...:fish1:

Do you not quarentine your fish ?
I will ask Sagar If he has ever had a super male if you want

A super male would be awesome. I have never quarantined although the fish I buy have all been quarintined before they ship to me so I am confident they are good to go. Dominick Qt'd this guy for better than a week. Even the LFS I get some occaisional stuff from will QT for a week or so before selling to public. I released hom into the population and he is fiiting in great, competing for food and nobody is harassing him.

That's very good news Jim. I'm glad he is doing well. Most of the stress on the fish and you is almost over now.
It's a very good feeling when you get to this point, at least it is for me. Although I still check my tank for my bellae first everyday. LOL

< knows the person he got it from very well and he wont release a fish till he is confident of it's health and it eating

Congrats on another awesome fish. What size is the tank he's going in? Is it the same one as the Earlei? Im thinking a video is in order. Thanks for sharing as always.

Dom was great to deal with, he was very concerned that the fish was eating well and healthy and it was actually nearly 2 weeks from the day he got it until he sent it to me. He was kind enough to give me regular updates of how the fish was doing. I think half of the joy of getting a new fish like this is the process, from getting a tip from Mauritus that these guys were heading to the US, making contact with Dom and discussing how I could acquire this fish. The adventure of a 4" fish that travels 40 hours to NJ, then makes a 12 hour trip to end up in my tank in Papillion NE.
