Hi, I am going to up grade my 12 gallon aqua pod's pump to a maxi jet. What size should I get and how powerfull should it be. Any help would be great. Thanks.

1200 would be too much I thinka 900 with a hydor water flow would give you enough movement for the whole tank.

900 with a hydor is what I upgrade too.......much etter then the stock pump...less heat

A Hydor is a deflector that rotates so that the flow is not concentrated in a single direction but continually shifting in your tank.

Midknight,
Thanks for explaining the Hydor Flo very well. I was kinda wondering the same thing too. I have definetly added the Hydor to my list for my new nano!

For my 22 gal I replaced my stock pump with a MJ1200 (with hydor) and added a second return pump (MJ900) with a flare nozzle. The 900 puts out more flow with the nozzle than the 1200 with the Hydor ... just something to think about

I've read that for a 12G, the MJ 900 would be the best bet, as the 1200 would be a little too much. But the MJ/900 works just as well with the Hydor Flo!

this is about as accurate as you can get comparing a 900 with a flare and 1200 with the flo. On the money.
