I just purchased two Maxi-Jet Pro 1200's. I know they haven't been getting good reviews, but thought I'd give them a try anyway. Installed them tonight and they're pushing a whole lot of water around my little tank! With the provided modifications they provide 1,300 GPH of flow. Whether they last is another story, of course, but they're no louder than my old 1200's. So far, so good.

Did you buy the Marineland or Cobalt brand?

The Marineland maxi-jet is the cheap Chinese version . The Cobalt maxi-jet is the original Italian made version. It only costs about $10 more and definitely worth it.

ive have one running like that now for quite a while.just take it apart and clean it once in a while

I have a couple of Cobalt pumps I use for other things, but you can't fit the mod kit to them for increased flow. A 1200 alone just doesn't ramp up the flow enough.
