Maxi sick

we need more info then that. tell us everything about your tank, how long you've had the clam, all water parameters, lighting, filtration...

I had the clam for 2 weeks and he's in my 42g reef with 1x4" deresa and 2 other maxis 1" and 3". All other clams are doing fine. 175MH all params normal and prizm skimmer.

I took a closer look at him just now and see his underside is tore open. I can see light from his top opening to the bottom. He was knocked out of his rock prior to this and is probably the cause of his injury.

what color temp is the bulb (k rateing)

please list water parameters.

this may just be the byssal opening. all clams have this opening but most of the time they hold them shut and you cant see it.

if you only have had the clam for 2 weeks it may have been in bad shape when you got it.

Nitrate 10
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Ph 8.2
Calcium in 500 range

20k MH and is about 18" from the clams.

I've posted another pic in my gallery.

The alk is 2.0 and clam is still alive. I've a maroon clown, 2x 4 strip damsels, pseudo-chromis, banded coral and camel shrimp.

My 1" maxima is spitting out white stuff and mantle is curled up. What's wrong?

That size clam is very hard to keep IMO & IME. Best to try to get one at least 2"+. These small guys have a large mortality.

the 1" maximas are hard to keep but if you put the clam in a small bowl of sand inside your tank so it doesn't get knocked around it will survive better. Once it reached about 2 inchess, you can place it in the sand bed.
