maxijet 1200 pump

I just got a BRS dual GFO GAC reactor with a MJ 1200 on it. the MJ1200 is pretty loud.... Much louder than my 900 in my tank already. Is this normal or did I get a lemon of a pump? Maybe a break in time?

I've been told they are prone to making a loud sound, but will calm down within a week or so. I know my maxi was loud for the first week and now it's quiet. From what I read, this is normal. Just my .02 cents.
