This could be a good idea for next CMAS mtg. It will be fun for everyone to do this mod together. I am pretty sure, everyone has one or two Maxijet.

I just did 2 last night and I must say I'm impressed with my DIY skills. no noise and except for gluing my fingers to the shroud twice it went well. Buy an extra impeller if you can. I broke one of the two I modded.

Did one a while back with the dual prop, and it is almost to much flow for a 90 gal. It blows away a Seio 820.

What are users that performed the maxi jet mods using to hold the powerhead in place- the suction cups that come with the maxi? glue MJs to magnets? Planning on making the mod - however, my maxis have fallen and created sandstorms more than a few times. I real that some you could buy acrylic brakets from some website?

I glued the part that you slide into the grove of the MJ to the back and then just used the hanger. I've seen them attached to magnets, but always home made.

I did the same as MJAnderson, just make sure you keep it at least 4 or 5 inches down from the surface, or it will start sucking air.
