Maxijet utility pumps??

Anyone tried the new Maxijet utility pumps, specifically the 4500 or 5500's. They move a fair amount of water, 1000gph+ and only run around 70 watts. I'm considering buying a pair to use for circulation on a new 125G tank project. I was looking at Reeflo's, but the Maxijet pumps appear to use even less power and cost half as much as a Dart or Snapper. OK, I'm sure the quality isn't the same, but they offer a 3 year warranty on the maxi's. Are they quiet??? Surely somebody here must have tried them.

I run the Maxi-jet 4500 as sump return. Runs quiet have not any issues for over a year.

Good to hear Brett. I've had good luck with Maxi PH's so I thought these new pumps might be worth a look. Good price, very low wattage..........thanks

These are European (Italy) made pumps. I have the 3000 and it's very quiet. ..Haven't had it long enough to tell if it's reliable, but it looks to be very well made.

I like that it comes with suction cups to help with operation.

+1, I love my 3000, great pumps.

I'm running a 5500 on a closed loop and it's dead silent. I was very impressed on the quality of the parts, with it riding on ceramic shafts and bearings, and having a "real" impeller instead of a paddle wheel (only on the 4400 and 5500). The 5500 runs far better than a Mag12, moves more water, generates less heat, and is far quieter.

Thanks folks, all positive feedback, so it's looks like I'm gonna buy a couple of em. I have a Mag 9.5 which moves a lot of water, but the thing is OMG noisey, even after replacing the impeller, so I pulled it out of my tank.

Good post i have been looking for a new pump and have been looking closely at the Max-Jet 4500. So far I haven't seen any bad reviews but this post has convinced me to buy it.

Thanks for your help,
