maxima jumping at night only

Just got a maxima teardrop few days ago and have placed high up in rockwork near power compacts. Doesn't move during the day for past 5 days, but when we wake up in the am-the clam's jumped off 2 ft onto sand or onto some invertebrate. What should I do? Does anyone recommend making an epoxy molded"boat" so that the clam can eventually attach itself? What is the meaning of night time jumping (when moon lights on only}?

clams move when they are not happy with their surroundings, i would guess your maxima is looking for more light.

take a look at this thread on lighting for clams.

your lighting will be insufficient and to be honest you both would be better off if you took the clam back until you can meet his needs.
