Maxima on DSB?

I placed a 4" maxima on my 3" DSB. My sand is sugar fine (purearagonite.com). The clam seems to be sinking in it a little, is this an OK spot to place for him, or would placing it on the LR be better.

His lower mantle touches the sand.

I have mine on the bottom of the tank. What I did was put a piece of oyster shell that I got from the grocery store under it. The shell sits right below the sand level. This way you can move them once they get attached. Make sure you got good light otherwise they wont attach and go on a walkabout. A thin piece of LR would also work.

Agreed. It's not bad, but I'm sure he would much prefer a shell or little flat piece of rock to attach to.

Maximas in the wild will bury themselves about half way down thier shells that is why you will see them with scallops that are on the top edges of the shell and will be gone on the bottom. A buried peice of plexi would work to I think.
