maximum t5 height?

what's the maximum height from the water that you guys feel that you can get by with. I upgraded my frag tank to a 40 gallon breeder this weekend. due to its curent location in my small pantry, I can only mount the fixure 16" off the water. I have a 48" 6 bulb nova extreme pro. i'm running 4 blue+ 1 aquablue special, and one GE 65k. I was afraid that it was going to be too high off the water. but, so far my sps polyp extension seems greater than ever before. so, maybe the lights aren't too high?

Don't see an issue. I've seen them higher in many LFS. But maybe not long term. Someone else can chime in. Just my 2.

My sunpower fixture is 12" from the water level. My guess is it'll depend on what kind of corals you keep. It's just 39w x 8 though.

gibbus what kind of corals are you keeping? what are your colors polyp extension like? I'm keeping mostly sps in my frag tank. it's only day two, but so far everything looks awesome.
