Hi guys

Im the owner of a specialized marine shop in S.A

I want to know what is the maximum time a fish can be in transit.

When i import fish from the us...its almost 32hours

I now want to import from Taiwan...but i think it will be more than 32 hours.

Can anybody help

Thanks

You could ask the airline at the transit point to re-oxygenate the fish. I do not know how much the airline will charge though.

Lanzo,

I've never heard of the airlines re-oxygenating shipments, but you might be able to hire a broker to do that for you in some city that is mid-way along the flight path.

The longest shipment I've had was 54 hours for some leafy seadragons from Australia. They were TINY and packed one per huge bag. They arrived fine.

I've had domestic shipments go astray and arrive after 48 hours, but it is pretty much a cr*p shoot - very high mortality, especially in the winter.

At the very least, you'll need to instruct the shipper to "spread the pack", more than they usually do, but then you'll incurr the added freight charges.
