Maxpect Mazarra/Ecotech lights

I was just browsing your website. I have been considering LEDs when I set up my new tank. The way I read on your website, unless you buy the package deal, you have to buy all the Mazarra stuff separately, correct? The Mazarra P module does not come with a power supply? You have to buy that separate, same with mounting options, and the controller...so by the time you get everything that's about $700 for one module with all the needed things to set it up. Is this correct?

What do the Ecotech Radions come with? Does it include everything but the hanging kit? Does it already come with the controller and power supply? If not, how much do they cost as I didn't see them listed on your site? I am only going to need one module of either for my set-up and if what I believe is true, the Mazarra isn't much of a savings over Ecotech UNLESS you want multiple modules. In that case, I just may go the Ecotech route.

Hello Cloudburst2000,

For new Maxspect setups, we recommend the Maxspect Complete LED system which includes the controller, power supply, frame mount and the number of LED modules that you need for your aquarium.

We carry the individual LED modules if you wanted to expand your existing system. The modules do not include their own power supply.

The EcoTech includes the LED fixture, power supply, and USB cable. The controller is built into the fixture where you would program all the settings with their software, when the unit is connected to your computer. The fixture does include mounting eyelets if you wanted to come up with your own mounting options. The optional adjustable hanging kit is sold separately, if needed. I hope this helps.

Yep, it does. So there's really only a $50 savings then between the Maxspect Complete LED ($700) and the the Ecotech Radion ($750). Do you think one unit of either fixture would provide enough coverage for an Elos Midi which is 22.5" wide?

Both of the lights would work great with a Elos Midi aquarium, but you will get some shadowing in the corners with the Maxspect fixture. With the Maxspect fixture, you would have to use the 100 degree optics (included) to give you the proper light spread of approximately 18 inch square. The EcoTech Radion when mounted about 8 inches above the water line will give you up to a 30 inch light spread. Also, keep in mind that the Maxspect LED modules are 60W each, while the Radions are 130W. With that said, the strength of the Maxspect is with multiple modules and its ability to pivot the modules to target areas in the aquarium.

I really like the Maxspect Mazarras...especially the hanging system. I noticed that there is no combo deal that includes the hanging system. If I buy everything separately including the hanging system, it's over $700. On another website, I found everything available for a bit less then $700. You all do price matching, correct?

And I like the fact that on the Mazarras that I can add a unit for $415. Would two units be overkill on the Midi? Possibly get the single for now and upgrade to a second if I feel that it's worthwhile. Also, it would be able to support pretty much everything in a tank (sps, clams, anemones), correct?

Oh, and I just took advantage of your vacation deal and bought the RKL package. I'm leaving for vacation in a week and a half and didn't want people to have to worry about turning on/off lights or the aquarium over-heating. And I got a good laugh out of your email about the product shipping. It was a hoot

Yes, we do price match the landed cost. The hanging kit is sold seperately, but if you see the bundled kit available that includes the hanging kit on another website, then we would be able to match it. As long as our competitor is an authorized retailer and we are able to duplicate the order in our competitor's shopping cart, then we would be able to match and beat them by 10% of the difference.

Two units would not be overkill considering you can reduce the intensity (if necessary), and being able to change the optics and pivot the modules will give you the best coverage for your tank. Both the Maxspect Mazarra or EcoTech Radion fixtures will allow you to keep a wide variety of SPS, clams, and anemones.

We're happy to hear that you liked our confirmation email and we appreciate the feedback! We hope you enjoy your new Reefkeeper controller. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
