MaxSpect Gyre XF150

I currently have it on my 100G Half Cylinder and have to say it's just a great product for my needs. I have it on a very slow pulse mode, at about 50% power. Its the only powerhead in my tank, I have an Eheim 1262 return pump pushing water into the display... and that's it. So far so good, I doubt I'll need to add more flow to the tank.

My only gripe was that this powerhead (The Gyre Generator), given it's flow power, only came with a magnet for up to 3/4". My tank is 1" thick acrylic, and I am currently using my Great White Algae magnet to hold the Generator in my tank! Tankfully, I was informed by CoralVue that the upgrade magnets are coming out in about a week.

Just installed mine. Few quick notes and comments:

Magnet needs to be stronger. My tank is only 5/8", weak hold.

My tank is 24" deep. I am running ALT GYRE mode which means it runs forward then reverse every few minutes.. When it pushes water down (I think that reverse) the corals underneath get hit bigtime with flow set at the minimum 10%. Going forward I have it set at 70% and it does a good job.

Quality seems decent, controller easy to use.

Low profile: takes very little room in the tank.

Totally silent!!!!

So do you think this one unit will be enough for your tank ? Are you going to be able to remove all your power heads and run this alone ?

LOL, No way Jose.

On the other side is an MP40 (at 100%) that ive had for years.

One of the problems of running only one pump is the effect it has on corals directly in its path. The way my SPS grow that is difficult to acheive.

I also run 2 SeaSwirls coming out of my return so the amount of random flow is nicely distributed. :spin1:

Does anyone know if two of these can work in tandem like the Jebaos for the back and forth motion? Controlled through APEX, RKE etc?
