Maxspect gyre XF250 low flow settings?

Hello everyone,

I am a new owner of the Gyre xf250 and have it installed on my 90g reef tank. I tried to play with the different settings via the controller but most of them seemed too strong for my corals. I currently have the gyre set on Alternating Gyre Mode with max flow of 10%, but I still think its a bit too strong for soft corals.

My question to the gyre users: Is there any better settings that could provide slower/less powerful flow? Or is the xf250 too powerful for my 90g tank?

Thanks!

I did try the vertical position but that didnt help much. I think the xf250 is too strong for a 90g tank.

I should have bought the xf230 :(

Why do you think it is too strong for your soft corals?

I had 2x rw8 jebaos before and 2 of my hammer corals disintegrated due to the strong flow. Now with the xf250 I can see that the flow is a bit stronger than the previous rw8.

I might try and lower the pump to the middle of the tank and see if that would help.

The XF250 is a powerful pump. I run mine at 40% in my 57 gal(36" long tank). It is an sps only though, I can see hammers, scolys, etc being bothered by too much flow.
