Maxspect LED owners!!!

two 160's will work on your tank i believe. the 160's have 30watt leds for deeper penetration i think. Others may need to chime in.

joined the club tuesday with 3 g2-160's for my new 180. only complaint i have so far is the mounting of the rails. couldnt find any paperwork on installing them and they seem crooked.any thoughts. will post some pics in a while.

Have any of you missed the dimming capabilities? In other words, has anyone put one of these over their tank and felt that without being able to adjust the color intensity, its either too bright, or just not the right color?

I never had diming with halides or vho's, so why would I care about it on these? I guess you could say the halides brighten for about 30 seconds when they first come on but thats about it.

yeah it's hard to miss something that you never had. I went a step up by having them controlled on their own timed driver, saves me outlets on my EB8 as fas as I'm concerned.

Having them controlled on their own? What do you mean by that? Is that a G3 model then or what? Thanks.

Alright heres what it comes down to for me and i want to order here soon.

The 3 units im looking at are the G2 170 Semi LED 545
G2 230 Semi LED 710
G2 170 Cree LED 790

Mainly because of the lenght of the fixture. Is Cree Worth it? NOt many ppl said wether they bought cree version or semi led. How are the 30w leds? any burn outs/replacemnts?

Me, personally im thinkin the 4 30w leds is gunna be alot on my mostly dominated lps tank. (tho i want sps) Thats why i said semi 170 or Cree 170

Im trying to order it by the 15 of March so some help on some stuff would be great.

I have a 46 gal. bowfront as well. Curious as to which unit (and optics)you've decided on. I've got an Oceanic 8" high canopy that I have to deal with as well. Any thought on the center brace on the 46 causing shadows from a 32" wide unit? Would two 16" units on either side of the brace be better?

Finally got around to putting the basic lens kit on mine, it's a interesting difference.

I went from light leaking about 18" all around my tank, shining on the floor. Now there's zero light on the floor. The light in the tank is now more intense, seems a bit more focused too. More shadowing between rocks and such as well. I had been considering not installing them, but I'm glad I did.

Not the best fit to the housings though.

Maybe he rewired it. I don't see how it would be possible to do that without seperating each set of lights to its own power plug...

I ws referring to the unti coming with it's own timed driver, controlling the three different sets of lights, thus using one power cord for the entire fixture. Whereas if you plug your own lights into a controller then you are stuck using a power cord for each sets of lights you want to control.

Ya, I don't really know how anyone could use a controller with it other than to turn it off an on since it has its own controller.

So is the optics better? I am debating if i want to order the two kits for my two g2-170.

I have a 65g tank (36x18x24) project in the works, it will be SPS dominated and I'm interested in getting a Maxspect LED for lighting. What model would be good for my future set-up and where can I get it for a reasonable price? Thanks.

Getting curious about the difference with the optics on so I will probably put them on tonight to see how they are tonight.

Just put them on and I am impressed from what I see. Main thing I love less light bleeding out side the tank.

I was looking at these for my 40 gallon breeder tank. Which model would you recommend? 36 X 18 x 16 is the dimensions of the tank. I wanna be able to grow every coral, anywhere in the tank. thanks!
